What is considered a highly cited paper?
Highly Cited Papers are papers published in the last 10 years that are receiving the most citations (top 1%) when compared to peer papers (same field, same publication year).
With 10 or more citations, your work is now in the top 24% of the most cited work worldwide; this increased to the top 1.8% as you reach 100 or more citations. Main take home message: the average citation per manuscript is clearly below 10!
A hundred citations is clearly “highly impactful” regardless of the year the paper was published. To get a better sense of papers that are above the baseline, we can take a look at the actual numbers.
For all researchers, 5-10 citations of their papers will be great! Publishing in good journals help the citations of our articles.

My "rule of thumb" has always been to use a maximum of three references to support a particular statement. The role of a literature review is to provide a targeted review of the literature. In my view, there are several reasons why it is wise not to use too many references: It really disturbs the flow of the paper.
In fact, in Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics, even for papers in ISI listed journals that are 10 years old, 4-5 ISI citations might be enough to put an article in the top 50% most cited papers in their fields, around 20 citations puts you in the top 10%.
For example the most productive professors in these three disciplines have between 20 and 78 publications and 184 to 586 citations.
Comparing the CiteScore to the Impact factor (CS/IF) for the selected journals (column 3 of Table 2), the CiteScore is 1.69 ± 0.61 (mean and standard deviation) times that of the Impact Factor. A number greater than 1 indicates a higher CiteScore, and a number less than one indicates a higher Impact Factor.
Using too many references does not leave much room for your personal standpoint to shine through. As a general rule, you should aim to use one to three, to support each key point you make. This of course depends on subject matter and the point you are discussing, but acts as a good general guide.
How many citations is good for eb1?
EB1A criteria rules-of-thumb: Less than 100 citations: Hard to make a case, but still possible: compensate with many ref. letters or patents or leadership or published media about you. 300+ citations: Can make a case just based on publications.
What is a good h-index for a Phd student? It is very common that supervisors expect up to three publications from PhD students. What is a Good h-Index? Hirsch reckons that after 20 years of research, an h-index of 20 is good, 40 is outstanding, and 60 is truly exceptional.
Answer: For an original article, the literature review should roughly be around 15-20 percent of the length of the article. However, for a review article, the approach is different. A review article does not have a separate literature review section.
Citations vs.
A citation can require appearing in traffic court to determine guilt. Whereas a ticket just requires paying a fine. Some jurisdictions only give citations out for serious offenses or repeated violations. For example, after several warnings for speeding, a citation could be issued.
Usually 3-4 reliable sources should be sufficient. This should be enough external information to complement your original thoughts/ideas. With too many sources, the essay becomes a compilation of opinions from other writers instead of your own.

Outputs in top percentiles indicates the extent to which an entity's outputs are present in the most-cited thresholds of a data source per publication year. 10% is recommended as the default threshold. Other thresholds are the number of publications within the top 1%, 5% and 25% of most-cited publications.
An impact factor of 10 can be considered excellent – although unreachable in many categories – as in 2020 only 3.65% of the journals had an impact factor of 10 or higher.
CiteScore calculation is based on Scopus data, while Impact Factor is based on Web of Science data. CiteScore uses a 3-year window while Impact Factor adopts a 2-year window. CiteScore includes all document types indexed by Scopus, include articles, reviews, letters, notes, editorials, conference papers, etc.
